I have just sold my 53 plate 1100s on here. I had the same issue re lots of nice bits to leave on or not. I went the Merecat route: offered on here first with all the goodies and it went in a couple of days. Could I have got a bit more by splitting it up................maybe..........but, once you h...

New motor fitted.
The motor cover bolt is a bit of a pig to get to though.
New motor seems to be the fix, much quicker to spin up and no repeat of the warm start problem thus far.

Hope that's it as I think I might sell the old girl on.

Hmmmmmmmmm. Battery terminals tight. Earth lead ok. Live terminal on solenoid tight. Battery good. Starter body has a bit of corrosion around it and it does sound sluggish. Can't reliably get the problem to repeat itself (sounds a bit counter intuitive i know) so am only left with replacing the star...

Could be quite a few things Adrian, not helpful I realise. Do you have a volt meter to check your battery? Is it clicking like the battery is dead, . I will check with a meter but don't expect problems with a year old Odyssey. It doesn't click, it just struggles to turn the engine over and then dis...

Intermittent starting problem

Hi all, Before I pull the bike to bits I thought I better ask you good people if you have any ideas? Bike is a 53 plate R1100S. Now and again the bike doesn't want to start. It is as though the battery is flat. It seems to be more of a problem if the bike is warm. If you give it a few minutes it sta...

ok, here we go. you have 3 possible adjustments, 1 on the front and 2 for the rear. The knob for the front just forward of the fuel tank. Standard setting is: turn knob fully clockwise until it stops. Then back anti clockwise 6 clicks. this is for solo riding. Basically the more clockwise the harder...

First off is bike cold or warmed up. Check your choke function, it may be sticking or incorrectly set. Check tickover as mentioned, should be 1000rpm give or take. Next balance the throttle bodies, it makes a huge difference to low speed fueling. If your stiuck on the balancing give me a shout as i'...

clicking in combination with blowing bulbs sounds like an earthing fault to me. check battery connection to ground and same for starter motor. Others will be along with more suggestions shortly.

Assuming you've fully comp, do you have protected no claims? Over £1400 has got to be worth tapping up your insurer?

Only had mine a 1100s a few weeks having come from a succession of jap fours, so here's my thoughts for what there worth. It will vibrate more than your used to but dont let that put you off as its not the numbing variety and fades into the backround as you get used to it. The switchgear is a bit of...
