My 2005 R12ST used to drink a fair bit of oil if used pretty hard.
a liter per 2000 miles or so.
The current RT uses 400ml over 2500 miles of very hard riding including a track day at Folembray!
I liked my ST.

Don't knock it till you try it. A couple of years ago I was riding in Spain at 40c, with my Rukka cuffs undone and over my gloves, it worked, however I was always a bit concerned that some nasty biting bug would get sucked into my sleeves  Also concerned about the sleeves riding up if I was t...

An update on this for those that asked about MPG. Due to my addiction to winding on the throttle, I seem to have a average 10% increase in fuel used per mile and less miles from a rear tyre. I note that when I'm behind a slow associate that the fuel consumption does decrease giving more MPG, so I su...

Does anyone have a good reason why the Tunnel staff tell you to place the bike on side stand but facing the LH side (kerb) of the train? Aside from they haven't a clue! To my mind we should park on side stand but facing the RH side of the train, so any sudden deceleration from the train would lean t...

Apparently, the test to see if you really have a bad case of tinnitus is to run a tap (water), if the noise of the tap drowns out the tinnitus, you don't have a bad case. However, different taps give different volumnes so not sure that it's a valid test. I've just grown used to mine, caused no doubt...

I make a point of nodding, or raising the hand off the bar to all sorts of riders. However, I've noticed a few things. The riders on most chop type or rat type bikes, wearing dark glasses and on occasion tassles, tend not to receipritate. Harley riders, as above... I ride an R1200RT, silver with whi...

Fairly common on the 1200 front calipers. Usually it's the pads sticking where they contact the caliper. I have to pop my front pads out once a month / every 6 weeks and brush them clean with a wire brush, then brush out the calipers with an old toothbrush, a dab of copper grease on contact points o...
